Warning: the lightshower may alter your mood! Your color experience may intensify.

Just imagine a dull grey day in February. After having been in the light shower you may see colors in places where you hadn't seen them before. I want to enable people to create their own space with light. Meanwhile research can be done on what happens when people are immersed in their own color preferences.

The Lightshower is an interactive environment in which participants can immerse themselves in light colors. It is known that there are so called high screeners (wanting more stimuli) and low screeners (wanting less stimuli).The lightshower allows for both types of people because they create their own favorite light colors.The parameters of such color environment can be stored and re applied in another space.

A multitude of lightshowers can be connected via internet. Another option is a salon with a multiotude of light showers. This way participants can shower others at distance. I consider a salon a public space. A public space that stimulates participants to communicate about colour based on their individual experience.

Care institutions are regularly looking for designs that can contribute to and are part of healing environments. An environment in which people are distracted from their daily hospital reality. My designs not only fit in with this concept, they are based on it. Through immersion in color participants can make themselves feel calmer. This could benefit the healing proces. The quality and color of light has an influence on people. It is therefore interesting to find out more about why and how this happens.That's why I want to make the light shower mobile. I'd like to bring the experience to the participants.

Objectives of my work:                                          

1) offering an intensive and interactive color experience through use of LED and projection.      

2) Which color preferences do participants have and what effect do they have?

4) Can we communicate with color?
